How to Buy Telegram Premium in 2026: Every Official Way, Step by Step
Telegram Premium can be bought four ways, and the button inside the app is rarely the cheapest. Here is where to tap for each route and which one I would pick.

Telegram gives you four legitimate ways to pay for Premium, and the obvious one, the Subscribe button in the app you downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, is rarely the cheapest. I run TelegramMember and keep our Telegram Premium price by country table up to date, so I compare these routes every time the prices are re-checked. This guide is the practical side of that table: where to tap, what each route needs from you, and which one I would pick in your situation.
One thing to clear up first. This article is about the Premium subscription for your own account. If you came here looking for Premium members for a channel, that is a different service. And if you are still deciding whether the subscription is worth paying for, start with what Telegram Premium includes and come back when you are ready to buy.
The Four Ways to Buy Telegram Premium at a Glance
Everything below comes from Telegram's own documentation and from the purchase pages themselves, which I last checked on October 4, 2026.
| Route | How you pay | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| App Store or Google Play | Your Apple or Google account. Renews monthly or yearly | The fastest setup |
| @PremiumBot | Bank card, in a direct Telegram app. Renews monthly or yearly | The lowest card price |
| Fragment | A crypto wallet. Prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months | Paying with crypto, or when no card works |
| A gift | Someone else pays. Prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months | When you cannot pay yourself |
I am not going to quote prices in this article. They differ by country and by route, and they change. The live numbers stay in the price table linked above, where every figure has its source next to it.
Option 1: Subscribe Inside the App (App Store or Google Play)
This is the route most people see first, because it is built into the app they already have.
- Open Telegram and go to Settings.
- Tap Telegram Premium.
- Choose a plan. Most storefronts offer a monthly and a yearly option, although a few in my price table list no yearly plan at all.
- Confirm the payment with your Apple or Google account.
Premium then applies to that Telegram account on every device where it is logged in.
Three things are worth knowing before you confirm:
- The store sets the currency. According to the Telegram Premium FAQ, when you subscribe through the App Store or Play Store your currency follows your account with Apple or Google, and the price can include store fees and local taxes.
- One store account, one subscription. A single Apple ID or Google account supports only one ongoing Premium subscription. If you run two Telegram accounts on one phone, the second one has to be paid for another way.
- The yearly plan is the real discount. Telegram describes yearly subscriptions as available at a significant discount. If you already know you will keep Premium, paying monthly is the expensive habit.
I would use this route when speed matters more than price: a phone, a saved payment method, and it is done in a few taps.
Option 2: Subscribe Through @PremiumBot (the Cheaper Card Route)
Telegram's FAQ says it plainly: subscribing through the bot is cheaper than signing up through Google Play or the App Store, because those payments are not subject to Apple's or Google's fees. Every subscription bought through @PremiumBot is discounted by default.
The catch is where the bot works. It is only available in the direct versions of Telegram, meaning the ones downloaded from Telegram's own site rather than an app store:
- Telegram for Android, the direct download
- Telegram Desktop for Windows, Mac and Linux
- Telegram for macOS
If you open the bot in an app that came from the App Store or Google Play, it will not work. Telegram gives exactly two reasons for a non-working @PremiumBot: your app is a store build, or Premium is not available in your country.
How to subscribe with the bot
- Install one of the direct apps above and log in to the Telegram account you want to upgrade. For most people Telegram Desktop is the easiest choice.
- Open @PremiumBot and press Start.
- Follow the bot's prompts. It shows the plans available to your account and sends a payment invoice inside the chat.
- Pay by card. The payment is handled by a third-party payment provider, and Telegram states that it does not store your card details.
You do not have to keep using that app afterwards. Telegram is explicit that you can subscribe from any platform, even one you rarely use, and Premium then syncs across the whole account. This is the trick for iPhone owners: there is no direct iOS build, so subscribe once from a computer and the Premium badge shows up on your iPhone too.
Which price the bot shows you
This is the part people get wrong, so I will stick to Telegram's wording. With @PremiumBot, the currency and price of your first payment are based on the country code of your account's phone number. After that first payment, future payments are calculated in the currency of the country of your payment method. To qualify for a localized price, the card has to be issued by a financial institution in that country and have a local billing address.
In practice the bot shows your exact price before you pay, so open it and look. If you want a reference point first, I keep the reported figures under @PremiumBot and Fragment prices.
Option 3: Buy Telegram Premium With Crypto on Fragment
Fragment (fragment.com) is the TON-based platform that Telegram itself sends people to for collectible usernames and for withdrawing Stars. It also sells Premium. Its own description is short: use your crypto wallet to buy a Telegram Premium subscription for yourself or your friends.
Here is the flow as the site showed it when I checked on October 4, 2026:
- Open fragment.com, go to Premium and choose Buy Premium for a User.
- Connect a TON wallet with the button at the top of the page. Fragment's own guide names Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet as examples.
- Under Choose recipient, enter a Telegram username. It can be yours or someone else's.
- Choose the duration: 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
- Choose the payment method. The page listed Gram on the TON network, USDT (on TON, Ethereum or Polygon) and USDC.
- Press Gift Telegram Premium and confirm the transaction in your wallet.
A few practical notes from reading that page closely:
- It is prepaid. A Fragment purchase is a fixed block of months. Nothing renews, so there is nothing to cancel later, and you have to buy again when it runs out.
- The recipient is found by username. Make sure the account you are buying for has a public @username set, and read it twice before you confirm. A blockchain payment cannot be pulled back.
- Longer is cheaper per month. The page showed larger discounts on the 6-month and 1-year options, plus a sale banner on the day I looked. Treat any price you see quoted elsewhere as a snapshot.
- Your wallet is your responsibility. Fragment's guide warns that the recovery phrase of a non-custodial wallet is the equivalent of your password. Lose it and the funds are gone.
I would point two groups here: people who already hold crypto, and people whose bank card is simply not accepted by the stores or by the bot's payment provider.
Option 4: Receive Premium as a Gift, or Gift It to Someone
Premium can be bought for another person, and for many readers this is the only route that works.
Inside the app. Open the other person's profile and tap ⋮ or ⋯, then Send a Gift (Telegram's FAQ still calls this button Gift Premium). You can send a prepaid subscription for 3, 6 or 12 months, and Telegram says these prepaid subscriptions are offered at discounted rates.
With Telegram Stars. Since the March 2025 update, a Stars balance can pay for the gift. Telegram's announcement describes it as gifting Premium with Stars, through the same Send a Gift menu. If you need to buy Stars for this, compare what Telegram Stars cost in the app stores and on Fragment first, because the gap is not small.
Through Fragment. This is Option 3 with someone else's username in the recipient field.
Two details make gifts more useful than they look:
- Gifts use a global rate. Telegram explains that gifted subscriptions use the global rate so they can be sent to and from users in any country. Its own suggestion is that you can get someone started with a gift, after which they can set up a local subscription.
- Gifts create boosts. If you run a channel or a group, each Premium gift you send gives you 3 boosts that you can assign to your own community. Giveaways go further: a channel that hosts one receives all 4 boosts from each Premium subscription it gives away. If you would rather collect boosts from subscribers who already have Premium, share your boost link instead.
Which Route I Would Pick
My order of preference is simple, and it follows the rules above rather than any trick.
- You have a working card and a computer: @PremiumBot in Telegram Desktop, on the yearly plan. It is the discounted route by Telegram's own description, and it renews without any effort.
- You only have a phone from the App Store or Google Play: the in-app subscription, yearly if you plan to keep it.
- You pay with crypto, or your card keeps failing: Fragment, with your own username as the recipient.
- You cannot pay at all from where you live: ask someone you trust to gift it, either in the app or on Fragment.
- You need Premium on a second account: the bot, because one Apple ID or Google account only carries one subscription.
- You are an admin who wants boosts: gift Premium to your team or active members and assign the boosts you receive to your channel.
When Premium Is Not Available or Your Payment Is Refused
Telegram gives two possible reasons for Premium being unavailable in a country: local laws and regulations may prevent access, or the country is not supported by the payment processors Telegram relies on. For a refused payment method, its advice is to try every subscription option available to you, because a subscription applies to all supported apps regardless of which one you used to buy it.
So the honest checklist is short:
- Try the other card route. If the store refuses your card, try the bot in a direct app, and the other way round.
- Try a gift. Gifts run on the global rate precisely so they can cross borders.
- Try Fragment, which needs a wallet and a username rather than a bank card.
This is also where people get robbed, so let me be direct. I sell Telegram growth services for a living, and nothing I sell needs your password or a login code. Premium is no different. A gift is sent to a username, so a legitimate seller needs your @username and nothing else. If someone offers cheap Premium and asks for the code Telegram just sent you, asks to log in to your account, or wants your two-step verification password, walk away. That is an account takeover, not a discount. If it has already happened, start with our guide to recovering a hacked Telegram account.
Renewal, Cancelling and Refunds
Subscriptions bought through the stores or the bot renew monthly or yearly until you cancel them. Gifts and Fragment purchases are prepaid and simply end.
You cancel with the same provider you paid:
- @PremiumBot: open the bot and send the
/stopcommand. - Google Play: open Google Play, tap your avatar in the top right, then Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- iOS: open iOS Settings > Apple ID Settings > Subscriptions.
What happens next is set out in the Terms of Service for Telegram Premium. The subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and there is no refund or credit for the remaining days.
Four smaller rules catch people out:
- Uninstalling Telegram does not cancel or pause anything. You are billed on the original renewal date.
- Deleting your account stops bot payments but not store payments. Apple and Google may keep charging until you cancel in their settings.
- Changing your phone number is safe. The subscription is tied to the account, not the number.
- A subscription cannot be moved to another account, and each account needs its own.
Key Takeaways
- There are four legitimate routes: the app stores, @PremiumBot, Fragment and a gift.
- @PremiumBot is the discounted card route, but it only works in the direct versions of Telegram for Android, Desktop and macOS.
- You can subscribe on a computer and use Premium on your phone. It follows the account, not the device.
- Fragment and gifts are prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months and do not renew.
- Gifts use a global rate, which is what makes them work across countries.
- Nobody needs your login code to give you Premium. A username is enough.
