How to make a Telegram QR code in 4 steps

  1. Build the link. Choose the link type and enter your username, bot, or invite link. Errors and fixes show up instantly.
  2. Pick a layout. Use "QR only" for websites, "Square post" or "Story" for social media, "Business card" for print, or "A4 poster" for a shop counter or café table.
  3. Brand it. Choose colors or a gradient, a pattern, corner shapes, and a logo. Upload your channel avatar or use the Telegram logo.
  4. Download. Check the green "scan-tested" badge, then download a PNG for social media or an SVG that stays sharp at any print size.

Track campaigns with the bot start parameter

When someone opens t.me/yourbot?start=insta_oct and taps Start, your bot receives the message /start insta_oct. Give every campaign its own code and you can count exactly how many users each ad, influencer, or flyer brought in.

  • Use up to 64 characters: Latin letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens. The tool cleans anything else automatically.
  • Keep codes readable, like yt_review, flyer_cafe_2, or ref_4821.
  • Mini App links use startapp= instead, which allows up to 512 characters.
  • Need to pass structured data? Encode it as base64url so it only uses allowed characters.

UTM tags don't work on t.me links. Telegram drops them, so t.me/channel?utm_source=x tracks nothing. Use start= for bots, or put a UTM-tagged link to your own site inside a share link.

t.me link or tg:// link?

For every link, the generator also gives you a tg:// version. It skips the browser and opens the Telegram app directly, which can feel faster in website buttons.

The catch: tg:// only works on devices with Telegram installed, and many email apps and social networks strip it out. For QR codes, bios, and anything public, always use the t.me link. It works everywhere and falls back to a web preview when the app is missing.

Getting a QR code that always scans

A pretty QR code is useless if a phone can't read it. The generator decodes every design with a real QR reader after each change and warns you if something breaks. For print, follow these rules too:

  • Dark code, light background. Inverted codes (light on dark) fail on many phone cameras.
  • Contrast of at least 3:1, ideally 4.5:1 or more. The tool shows the ratio when it's borderline.
  • Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide, and bigger for posters people scan from a distance. A good rule is 1 cm of code for every 10 cm of scanning distance.
  • Keep the quiet zone. The empty margin around the code is part of it, so don't crop it.
  • Logos up to about a quarter of the width. Adding a logo switches to the highest error correction (H), which lets the code survive the covered area.
  • Test a real print with two different phones before ordering hundreds of copies.

Common Telegram link mistakes

  • Putting @ in the link. t.me/@name doesn't work. The generator removes it for you.
  • Linking a private channel by name. Private chats have no username, so share the invite link instead.
  • Sharing a private post link with non-members. t.me/c/… links only open for people already in the channel.
  • Revoking the invite link after printing. If you reset an invite link in Telegram, every printed QR that uses it stops working. Create a dedicated invite link just for print.
  • Changing your username. Old links and QR codes break. Pick a username you'll keep, or point print QR codes at a link you control.

After the link: make people stay

A QR code brings people to your channel, but the channel has to convince them to join. First-time visitors look at the member count, recent view numbers, and how active the posts feel. If you're just starting, you can try free Telegram members or free post views, then scale up with real channel members and post views from our shop. Launching a bot? Bot starts give it activity from day one.

Telegram link & QR code FAQ

Is this Telegram QR code generator really free?

Yes. There's no sign-up and no limit on how many links or QR codes you make. Downloaded images carry a small telegrammember.co credit at the bottom. Your QR codes never expire because they point straight at your Telegram link, not through a redirect service.

How do I find my Telegram channel link?

Open the channel, tap its name, and look for the link under the description. Public channels show t.me/username. Private channels show an invite link (t.me/+…) under Invite links in the admin settings.

Will my QR code stop working?

Not on its own. The code contains your t.me link directly. It only stops working if you change the username, delete the chat, or revoke the invite link it points to.

Can I put my logo in the middle of the QR code?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP, or SVG, or use the Telegram logo. The tool clears space in the middle, switches to high error correction, and scan-tests the result. Your image is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

What is the start parameter in a Telegram bot link?

It's the code after ?start=. Telegram passes it to your bot as /start code when the user taps Start, so you can see which campaign or referrer brought them. It can be up to 64 characters of letters, numbers, _ and -.

Do UTM parameters work on t.me links?

No. Telegram ignores query parameters it doesn't know, so UTM tags on a t.me link aren't tracked anywhere. Use the bot start parameter, or a share link that contains a UTM-tagged URL to your own website.

What's the difference between t.me and telegram.me?

They lead to the same place. t.me is Telegram's official short domain and the one people recognize, so it's the best choice for printed QR codes.

Can I make a QR code for a private Telegram group?

Yes. Paste the group's invite link (t.me/+…) and generate the QR. Anyone who scans it can request to join or join directly, depending on the link's settings. Use a separate invite link for print so you can track or revoke it.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

Use PNG for social media, chats, and websites. Use SVG for anything printed: it's vector, so it stays razor-sharp on a business card or a large poster, and print shops prefer it.

Why does my QR code fail the scan test?

Usually it's low contrast, light-on-dark colors, or a logo that's too big. Darken the code color, lighten the background, shrink the logo, or switch to the Square pattern until the badge turns green.
